Annie Rutledge Music Therapy

Welcome! I am so glad you’re here.

About Me.

Hi! My name is Annie and I am a board certified music therapist. I am passionate about creating spaces through music in which individuals can experience compassion, empathy, authenticity, and honesty while working towards their goals.

I believe that music therapy can foster a strong sense of belonging and that this is so very important for people in all stages of their lives. There have been many times in which I have experienced how powerful music can be in the therapeutic process and I often feel honored that I am allowed to hold space for these experiences.

What is music therapy?

Music therapy is an evidence based practice which uses music as a means to help individuals reach their goals.

During a music therapy session, we could use a variety of music interventions including songwriting, instrument playing, singing, improvisation, music assisted relaxation, or song discussion.

Music therapy can be used to address goals such as communication, physical rehabilitation, socio-emotional needs, cognitive skills, pain management, and so much more.

Who is music therapy for?

In short, anyone! I am a firm believer that anyone can receive benefits from music therapy. Some typical places you might see music therapy used are in school settings, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, assisted living, or hospice care.

Music therapy can be used in both the group or individual setting. If you think music therapy might be a good fit for you or if you are just interested in learning more, please reach out. I would love to chat with you about it!
